Press Release: Quick Connect system for PowerFloat - Jan 22, 2008

During the winter of 2007-2008 PowerFloat was pleased to announce the development of the PowerFloat Quick Connect system. The ability of veterinarians to quickly change to different functioning shafts on the cordless PowerFloat motor source will be of considerable advantage in the treatment of different equine and zoo animal dental problems. The long rotating shaft attachment can accommodate a flat end half apple core burr which can be used to reduce sharp tooth material from the caudal ledge of the upper last molar teeth. This area which is situated very tightly against the soft tissue of the angle of the mandible in some horses is now easily accessible. The sharp edge of the shelf can be reduced to a smooth surface is seconds with this new burr. The long and short shafts also accept the rounded half apple core burr which can be used for contouring the 6s (bit seats) as well as to reduce sharp surfaces on canine teeth. The short shaft makes it ergonomically easy for veterinarians to do these procedures. The short shaft can also accommodate a cylindrical carbide burr for incisor reduction procedures as well as reducing sharp surfaces on canine teeth. The long shaft which has a tapered end leading to the guarded grinding burr allows easy introduction of the instrument into the caudal aspects of the mouth of miniature horses, miniature donkeys, and small ponies.

The various attachments now make the PowerFloat the most versatile dental instrument on the market for various sized equines and zoo animals. The instrument can be used to treat dental abnormalities in animals ranging in size from rhinos to goats.
